God’s Portion

God’s Portion

Speaking of God’s portion is a little ludicrous, because everything is His to begin with. God said, “The world is Mine, and all its fullness.” (Psalm 50:12b)

But while it’s all Gods, God has given it to us and has called us to be good stewards over His creation (Genesis 1:28-30).

But God has said that while it’s all His, He wants us to give Him the best of the best, the very top of the heap. And while this is often taught in relationship to the tithe, and what we are commanded to give back unto the Lord of our possessions, it goes beyond that.

This was brought out through Ezekiel when He was told by God to measure out God’s holy temple and how the land was to be divided out in the new millennial.

“Moreover, when you divide the land by lot into inheritance, you shall set apart a district for the Lord, a holy section of the land … in it shall be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.” (Ezekiel 45:1-3)

God was commanding the Israelites at this future date to put aside in the midst of Judah and the holy city of Jerusalem a portion of land that was just for Him, a sanctuary, a piece set apart for His dwelling place.

It wasn’t to be outside like the tent of meeting in the wilderness, but rather it was to be right smack dab in the middle. And while all the earth is the Lords, what He wanted was that the people set Him at the center of their lives.

And so, the question becomes, “Have we turned over the best to God?”

This not only is in what the Lord has given to us in our tithes and offerings, but have we given to God the best of ourselves (Romans 12:1-2).

We are God’s, and He wants to dwell in our midst, in the center of our lives and in the center of the church?
