Today’s 333 Devotional: “God Our Stronghold”
In our last devotional we looked at overcoming the Satan’s strongholds in our lives. But reading Psalm 27 it hit me; the best way to overcome Satan’s strongholds is to make the Lord our stronghold.
This was what the prophet Nahum found out.
“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)
Troubles are what we’re born into. Life is full of trials and tribulations. Jesus even said that in this world we will have tribulation (John 16:33).
But when we make the Lord our stronghold, we’re securely guarded and kept safe when Satan launches his attacks against us.
This is what King David found for his own life.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)
There’s no fear, because the power and spirit behind these people are no match for the Lord, because He’s far greater than anything Satan can dream up.
The Apostle Paul understood this reality and gives us this encouragement saying, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
We find our refuge and strength only in God. If we’re down and out, depleted of finances and health, God is always there as our strength and stronghold. It’s only when we’re at the end of ourselves that God will keep us and will be that ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:2).
To the Apostle Paul, Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Let’s therefore find our rest in Jesus Christ, the Rock of our salvation. And when trouble comes our way. Let’s run into His arms, for it’s His light, salvation, and strength, not to mention His love, grace, and mercy that we find our stronghold and refuge.
