Today’s 333 Devotional: “Filling The Need”
The more knowledge we gain, the less wisdom we seem to have. The richer we become, the less secure we are. The more pleasure we seek, the less content and satisfied we are in life.
The Bible says that God has set eternity in all of our hearts, but even so we still cannot fathom what God is doing. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer and Christian philosopher, said, “There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.”
Nothing created by man, not knowledge, wealth, possessions, philosophy, or career can fully satisfy what the human soul hungers for. Everything that humanity purports as something ends up as nothing when compared to eternity.
Solomon gives us this piece of advice.
“‘Meaningless! Meaningless!’ says the Teacher. ‘Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless. What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.’” (Ecclesiastes 1:2-3, 14)
What can satisfy the longing deep within the human heart and soul? Only a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ can satisfy what the human heart and soul longs for.
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)
Jesus also said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Therefore it is only in Jesus that you will find what your heart and soul long for, and it is only in Jesus that your needs will be filled.
Seek Him and find the peace of mind you need.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
