Today’s 333 Devotional: “Experiencing God in a New Way”
When the Lord sent Moses to deliver the children of Israel, He said they would experience Him in a way neither they nor their forefathers had experienced. The patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob only knew God as El Shaddai, God Almighty.
And while God did many great and marvelous things for them, Israel was now going to experience God in a whole new way. They were going to experience the Lord as YHVH, Jehovah, or Yahweh. They were going to experience God as their Savior, Redeemer, and Deliverer.
In other words, they were going to see and experience the covenant keeping God in action.
It’s not that God was ‘now’ revealing Himself as Jehovah. The people were calling upon the name of Jehovah way back in Genesis 4:26 in the time of Seth, Adam and Eve’s third son.
But now they were going to experience the great I AM in action. In Exodus 6, God lays out what they were now going to experience for the first time.
He said, “I will bring you out from under your burdens … I will rescue you from their bondage … I will redeem you with an outstretched arm … I will take you as My people … I will be your God … I will bring you into the land which I swore to give … I will give it to you as a heritage … I am the Lord.” (Exodus 6:6-8)
God was saying that He was now going to fulfill His promises.
Don’t allow the discouragements and cruel bondages stop you from hearing these precious words (Exodus 6:9).
I believe God wants you to experience Him in a new way today. If you are broken, crushed, desperate, in despair, hurt, or discouraged, God wants to deliver and redeem you from all your troubles and bondages.
How do you know God? Today you can know Him more intimately through our Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, Savior, and Deliverer.
