Thought For Today: “Consecrate to Draw Near”
Consecration, considered by many as some old worn-out religious term, is a vital cog in the mechanism of living a holy life. The word has the same meaning as sanctify, but it has to do with our dedication to serve God.
The Lord said in Leviticus 20:7, “Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God.”
In other words, be prepared for God to use you for His purposes.
Paul said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)
It is only when we offer ourselves as those living sacrifices that we can then draw near to God.
“Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the Lord, come near.” (2 Chronicles 29:31)
