Today’s 333 Devotional: “Choose Today”
When it comes right down to it, when we have to decide as to which direction we’ll take in life, what will we choose? Will we take the way of the world, the way that is easiest and often times without controversy, or will we choose the road less traveled, the road of holiness, righteousness, or the narrow way.
This was the choice Moses gave to Israel, and a choice Joshua confirmed for His life.
Moses said, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
This was also Elijah’s challenge to Israel. “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21)
They could either choose to follow the Lord or follow the false gods of the world.
To follow God is to obey His commandments, and when we obey His commandments then God’s blessing will follow, including an abundant increase in our lives (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
But if we choose not to obey the Lord and follow the way of the world, then we can expect the opposite, which will be passed down to our children.
“Your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron … And they shall be upon you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.” (Deuteronomy 28:23, 46)
It all comes down to a choice, which is a choice we all have to make every day. So, let’s choose to follow the Lord and receive His blessings for our lives, and not only will we be blessed by the Lord, but also our kids and grandkids.
Joshua said, “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve … But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
