Building a Bridge

Thought for Today: “Building a Bridge”

“He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” (1 John 2:10-11)

What will help us love our brothers and sisters in the Lord and walk in the light, and to stop hating them and walking in darkness, is to build a bridge.

To build a bridge they would shoot a small rope to the opposite side. The rope is tied to a cable which is then pulled across. This is the start of making a bridge that will last through the storms and through constant use.

And so, when we find ourselves in conflict, let’s send over a line beginning with good and godly conversations. And from this a bridge can be built that will withstand the storms of conflict that keep us separated.

With such an effort, we are showing God how much we love Him, because of what Jesus said is the Great Commandment to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and the second is like the first, that is, the way we show God our love for Him is by loving others as ourselves (Mark 12:28-34).

And if they refuse to accept the line, keep shooting it over, for this is well pleasing to God.
