An All-Sufficient Provider

Today’s 333 Devotional: “An All-Sufficient Provider”

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19)

God will take care of our needs. But Paul never said that God would supply our greeds or desires, rather our needs. Jesus said that we are to take no thought for what we are to eat, drink, or wear, for our heavenly Father knows exactly what we need, and then He makes this declaration.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

We see God’s all-sufficiency when the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. They needed no shoes, clothes, food, or water. God took care of their material needs, and He can take care of our needs as well.

The Bible is filled with stories of how God provided for those who were His.

But you might say, “That’s the Bible, but I don’t see God doing that today.” But He is.

Consider the story of George Muller. Continually he would seek God for the needs of his orphans, especially food. One morning they had nothing to feed the kids, so Muller went on a walk and about 20 yards from the house a man handed him enough money to feed the orphans. This happened over and over again. On one occasion when milk was needed a milk cart had overturned by the orphanage and the owner asked if they needed any milk. They received coal on cold days and the Lord even changed the cold North wind to a warm South wind when the boiler gave out.

Biographer E.M. Bounds said, “This godly man never asked anyone for money for running expenses…His practice was always to ask God for just what was needed, and the answers, which came to him read just like a record of apostolic times. He prayed for everything and trusted implicitly to God to supply all his needs.”
