A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Worthy Calling”

I beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:1-3)

Prayer:

Lord, even though Paul tells us to walk worthy of the calling You have placed on our lives, I realize that within us, such a walk is impossible even when it is done in humility, gentleness, patience, and love. And the reason is because You have made it clear that there is no one who is worthy, and there is no one who does good and does not sin. But You, Lord, are worthy, and for us to walk worthy of Your calling is to walk out this calling in You, and not in ourselves. Therefore, we are asking for Your help so that we may walk Your calling, looking always to You, Lord Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. AMEN
