A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Packaged Deal”
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” (Psalm 37:4-5)
Prayer:
Lord, to receive our heart’s desires and for You to act on our behalf, we’ve got to delight ourselves in You and commit our ways to You alone. Yet, what we end up doing is compartmentalizing all that we do. We will give You this but hold out and onto something else. We will commit part of ourselves, our possessions, work, and ministry to You, while at the same time keeping the other part to ourselves, mistakenly thinking that we can handle it, or that we are better able to make it work because of our ability. We have deluded ourselves! Therefore, Lord, we ask, for Your forgiveness, and we also ask that You give us the courage to give it all over to You, because our faith and salvation are a packaged deal, that is, it is all or nothing. AMEN
