A Faithful Remnant
We live is a world fill with a darkness that’s overtaking everything and every nation in its path. There is little it hasn’t touched, and it is dragging us into further bondage.
But God’s grace has called forth a remnant, His faithful few to be those lights that shine for Him in this sin darkened world.
“And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.” (Ezra 9:8)
“Unless the Lord of hosts had left to us a very small remnant, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been made like Gomorrah.” (Isaiah 1:9)
This remnant isn’t the biggest or the best. It isn’t the richest nor those who have great IQs. God’s remnant are those who are willing to confess their sins and repent. They are those who will listen to God’s word and follow His way and serve.
This was God’s message to Ezekiel in 6:8-9a, saying, “I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries. Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive.”
America has taken the way of Sodom and Gomorrah. We have given ourselves over to the pleasures and darkness of sin, which is getting darker by the moment, and we wonder, how deep will that darkness become?
But God hasn’t left America without a witness. He’s left a remnant behind to speak His word of repentance and of the coming judgment.
Ruth Graham Bell said, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
“O Lord God of Israel, You are righteous, for we are left as a remnant, as it is this day.” (Ezra 9:15a)
