Thought for Today: “The Wounds of God’s Love”
All of us carry wounds from our past. Not just the wounds of betrayal and abuse, but the wounds of love. Wounds that we want to forget, but wounds that are needed. These are wounds that God allows to remind us about His love and not to stray too far away from it.
Such was the wound of Jacob and the river Jabbok. Jacob wrestled with God for His blessing and protection, and as a reminder God touched Jacob’s hip, and Jacob walked with a limp from that time forward.
In the wounds we face in life Jesus is right there beside you, reaching out to help carry and encourage us. Yes, the wounds hurt, but that’s so we will remember and be comforted knowing that our heavenly Father loves us so much that He disciplines us in His love.
“Do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves.” (Hebrews 12:5-6a)
