Thought for Today: “A Full Ending”
It’s a great thing to die full. This is the assessment of the Bible’s account of Abraham’s death.
Genesis 25:8 literally says that Abraham died at a good old age and full. The words, “of years” are not in the Hebrew text.
“Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full (of years), and was gathered to his people. (Genesis 25:8)
The Bible says that Abraham was a friend of God (James 2:23) and lived by faith (Hebrews 11:8-10), which was “accounted to him for righteousness.” (Rom. 4:22)
What humanity counts as gain is what they are emptied of at death, which is wealth, possessions, prestige, and the like. But those who live by faith carry their fullness with them.
Therefore, it is a great thing to die full.
