Thought for Today: “Getting Heavenly Minded”

I’ve heard it said that Christians are so heavenly minded that they’re no earthly good.

Unfortunately, it’s the other way around. Christians are becoming so earthly minded that they’re no heavenly good.

To the church in Ephesus, the Apostle Paul said that we are to put of our old way to doing things, that is, the ways of this world, and instead be renewed in the spirit of our minds so that we can put on the new man created by God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).

How is such possible, by having what Paul calls the mind of Christ.

He said, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5)

To counter this world trends, we therefore need to take Jesus’s admonishing to heart.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
