Trust God and Move

Today’s 333 Devotional: “Trust God and Move”

When facing the vast majority of the Philistine army, Jonathan, King Saul’s son said to his armor bearer, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6)

Upon seeing God’s sign fulfilled, the two of them went up into the Philistine’s camp and began a rout of the enemy.

When we see God move, let’s stop waiting and instead get up and join in with what God is doing.  This was the advice given to the Jewish people by Joshua and the elders of Israel.

“When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it” (Joshua 3:3).

The Ark was the visible representation of the Lord to the people, and so when God moved the people were to move with Him.

This was the same advice given by God to the children of Israel in their wilderness experience. When the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire, which were the representations of God amongst the Jewish people, when it would lift off the tabernacle and move, then the children of Israel were likewise to move with it.

In other words, don’t wait. If God is moving, then the best thing we can to do is move with Him.

When we see the Lord move, let’s not wait for some engraved invitation, or some sign from heaven, let’s move and experience God’s presence and rest, just as the Lord promised.

“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).

Remember another promise of God through Solomon. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
