Thought For Today: “The True Foundation”
The definition of foundation means not only the base that a building is built upon, but also the beginning; that is, the first or essential principle from which everything derives.
In 1 Corinthians 3:11, the Apostle Paul said, “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
While there’s no other foundation but Jesus Christ, that hasn’t stopped many from trying.
Today cults and false religions flourish having one thing in common, the false belief that a person can be righteous before God based upon their good works.
What they end up doing is building upon a foundation of sand, and when the wind and waves of life come crashing down, they’ll tumble and fall with hell as their eventual stop (Matthew 7:26-27).
But those who build upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ, they’ll be able to stand when the storms of life hit and have heaven waiting for them on the other side (Matthew 7:24-25).
Jesus is the true foundation, that which the church and a believer’s life is built upon. He is the beginning from which God’s grace and mercy derives. Jesus is the essential principle and base from which salvation and the gospel message emanates.
