Thought For Today: “Faith and Faithfulness Required”

It all begins with our faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible says that it is by grace through faith that we are saved and there is nothing to add to that formula.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

We are also told the church in Smyrna that it is our faithfulness to God even in what we suffer at the hands of the enemy through trials and tribulations, even death, that we will receive the crown of life.

To the church in Smyrna, Jesus said, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10)

Therefore, in is in our faith in Jesus Christ and our faithfulness to the gospel message of His Kingdom that is required.
