Thought for Today: “Sowing and Reaping”
We can’t expect big things to happen when we pray small. We can never get more out when we put so little in. We reap what we sow.
“He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)
We see this same principle in what Jesus says about our in our giving.
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)
But if we fail to sow faithfulness and righteousness, then we are sowing to the wind, and instead of reaping a bounty of God’s faithfulness and righteousness, well reap a whirlwind of frustration and futility.
The Lord said through the prophet Hosea, “They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no bud; it shall never produce meal. If it should produce, aliens would swallow it up” (Hosea 8:7)
Instead, consider now what the Lord said, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” (Hosea 10:12)
