Thought For Today: “Loving God”

A dad walked by his young daughter’s bedroom and saw her playing on the floor surrounded by her dolls and stuffed animals. Crocodile tears were streaming down her face. He asked, “What’s wrong honey?” She looked up and whispered, “Dad, I love them…I love them…I love them. But they never love me back.”

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38)

And while we know that God loves us by sending His Son to die for us (1 John. 4:10), how are we to show our love back to him.

Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” (John 14:15) And Jesus second command, which He said was like unto the first, is to, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).

We show our love for God by loving others.

Let’s not be like those little girl’s dolls and stuffed animals; instead let’s love God back by obeying His word and loving others the way He’s loved us.
