Thought For Today: “God Looks In Not Out”
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are men and women after God’s own heart.
This is brought out within the Bible in many places; but none more telling than the choosing of David as God’s anointed king.
None of his family even considered David a likely candidate. Even his father called him the youngest, which means more than just his age. It also carries the meaning of least, little, and small. This was evident when they didn’t even invite him to the party.
But God’s choice is not based upon outward appearance, or upon what man considers important. Instead, God looks at the heart.
“The Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’” (1 Samuel 16:7)
