Thought For Today: “Love Binds Us Together”

In the Great Commandment, Jesus said that the way that we’re to show our love for Him with the whole of our being (body, soul, mind, and strength) is by loving others as ourselves.

So, when we love others, we’re actually showing God how much we love Him. And it is this love for others that not only unifies us with God but with others.

I love the 1960’s song, “They’ll Know We are Christians.” The lyrics go “We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord … And we pray that all unity will one day be restored. And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love, yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”

The Psalmist said, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)

In Ephesians 4:2-3, the Apostle Paul said, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

And so that which binds us together is our love and being unified in the Spirit.
