Thought for Today: “Restored”
“Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may return; renew our days as of old.” (Lamentations 5:21)
God takes broken people and puts them back together. What we might say is that God is in the human restoration business.
To restore means to mend, like mending nets that are broken or resetting a broken bone. God takes all those who have been broken due to sin and brings them back into a right relationship with Him, and He does this through His Son, Jesus Christ, and what He did for us upon the cross.
God wants to restore us, that is, He wants to bring us back to our original design, that is, how He first created us in the garden, and that is what He did through Jesus’s sacrifice, being the Lamb of God who takes our sins, both redeeming us and restoring us. .
Be God also wants to restore us physically as well. In Jeremiah 30:17, the Lord said, “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.”
So, the question becomes, is there a part of us that is missing? Are we broken and in need of some mending? God wants to restore, therefore, let’s open up our hearts and lives and let Him do His thing.
