Thought For Today: “The Gospel’s Significance”

The most urgent and imperative need of the human soul is not significance; rather it’s love, joy, peace and a never-ending future. And this can only be provided through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel is the good news that is given to sinful humanity, that while all of sinned and fallen short of God’s holy and righteous standards for life, God gives a way of salvation, and that is through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

In the John’s gospel he spells out this good news through the Father’s love.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:6)

It’s the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made upon the cross that rescues humanity from the consequences of sin, which is death. But not just death, but eternal death, and eternal separation from God, and then brings sinful humanity into the state of righteousness, holiness, freedom, fellowship, and everlasting life in His presence.

The Apostle Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16a)
