A Scripture and a Prayer: “Are We Prepared”
“‘I overthrew some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; yet you have not returned to Me,’ says the Lord. ‘Therefore, thus will I do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” (Amos 4:11-12)
Prayer:
Lord, are we prepared to meet You? It says that in the time of Noah, before God judged the world, that the people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage. That is, they were living life as if nothing was ever going to happen, and that they would continue to live in sin without fear of the consequences. Yet, You say, O Lord, that in the End Days when Jesus comes again, that it will be like the time of Noah. Help us, Lord, to know that Judgment is coming, but also that our life on earth is short, like a vapor. So, are we prepared when that day comes, and will we stand before you and hear, “Well done good and faithful servant,” or “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” Help us, Lord, to prepare for that day through faith in Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. AMEN
