A Scripture and a Prayer: “Light of the World”

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Prayer:

Lord, in the beginning, on the first day of creation, You spoke the word, “Let there be light,” and the light of the world, Jesus, began to shine to bring life to this earth, which is made evident in that the sun was not created until the fourth day. And so it is that when we follow You, Lord Jesus, that we will not stumble in the darkness of this world. But even more, You said that as Your disciples we are also to shine Your light within us for all to see. Therefore, Lord, help us not hide this light of Yours, but instead let it shine, as You shined into my life and gave me life eternal. “Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. AMEN
