God Did Much More

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God Did Much More”

As Jesus hung on the cross, there were those who mocked and ridiculed Him.

They said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.” (Matthew 27:42)

But Jesus did so much more. No, he didn’t come down off the cross alive; rather He did something even greater, He died, was buried, and three days later rose from the dead, and showed Himself to many.

And while this is what He did, many still didn’t believe, which is no different for people today. They say they’ll only believe if God does this or that.

But God did greater than whatever they may ask. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die upon the cross, to take our place and die the death we all deserve for our sins, because the wages of sin is death.

The Apostle Paul said, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God … For the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 3:10-11; 6:23)

But God did even more than that. Jesus rose from the dead, and because He rose from the dead, we have the assurance and hope that when we believe in Him, we can and will live eternally with Him in heaven.

And while the Bible says that the wages of sin is death, it also says that God gave us a gift in His Son, Jesus Christ, and those who accept this gift can have eternal life (Romans 6:23).

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

God gave the greatest gift ever. Will you believe in Jesus Christ and open up God’s gift of eternal life today? It’ll be the most important decision you’ll ever make in this life.
