Today’s 333 Devotional: “What’s It To You?”
After His resurrection Jesus appeared to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee where Peter asked about John’s fate.
And Jesus replied, “‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.’ Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, ‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?’” (John 21:22-23)
God has called us each to different ministries as He sees fit to help further the gospel message. We are therefore to operate as a whole, not as separate parts.
The Apostle Paul said, “God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.” (1 Corinthians 12:18-20)
Far too often we’re worried about what other people are doing, about their calling rather than about what the Lord has called for us to do. We compare our ministry and ourselves to them, which is a mistake. If God is blessing them, then what is it to us? Rejoice with them.
The Apostle Paul said, “For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us–a sphere which especially includes you.” (2 Corinthians 10:12-13)
So instead of getting caught up in what God is doing with someone else, rejoice instead in what He is doing in and through you. We are all part of one body and we’re all a part of the same team.
So instead of focusing upon others, focus upon the Lord and His calling for your life.
