Today’s 333 Devotional: “There Is A Difference”
Looking at God as our deliverer, I thought about the Exodus and the 10 plagues. What caught my attention, once again, is when the fourth plague rolled around, the plague of flies, the Lord said, “In that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land. I will make a difference between My people and your people.” (Exodus 8:22-23)
We see this same promise of protection in Psalm 91:9-11.
“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”
Yet, Jesus said that God makes His sun rise and fall on both the evil and the good and sends the rain on both the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45).
In other words, we’re all in this together, but at the same time what we see, and what God promises, is that He has set us, His people, apart from everyone else to both make a difference and to be the difference. This is at the heart of our mission at Living Waters Fellowship, and that is to make a difference in our community and world for Christ.
We are therefore called upon to be a people of faith, a people who live not only in accordance with His word, but also a people who are then ruled by faith in God and His word, and not a people ruled by ourselves, others, and/or fear.
It is only when we start living by faith and stop living by fear that we will be those difference makers for God, and only then will we make a difference in our community and world for Christ.
