Where Contentment Resides

Thought For Today: “Where Contentment Resides”

Our search for contentment will only come up empty when we look for it in people, places, or things. Instead, if we want to be content, let’s look no further than Jesus Christ.

Paul understood need, but he also understood that contentment wasn’t in what the Philippians supplied to meet his needs, but in Christ alone.

“I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:12-13)

It is the reality that Jesus is always with us (Matthew 28:20), and the fact that He will never leave us nor forsake us is what brings contentment.

The writer of Hebrews said, “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
