A Scripture and a Prayer: “A Right Heart”

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.” (Isaiah 29:13)

Prayer:

Lord, I pray this never comes to the point where it describes us or the church in our relationship with You. I know how easy it is to say the words, but not feel them within our hearts, and then, what is worse, never apply them to our lives. May we never make Your words into a set of rules, where we become more caught up in keeping than being more caught up and in love with You. Therefore, I humbly ask that when we start to falter in this, remind us through your grace, love, and mercy of all You have done in our lives and in this world. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
