Thought for Today: “Guard Our Conversations”

Out of our mouths can come either words that contain God’s blessings, or words that contain curses that can kill.

To get the full measure of this truth, consider the following verses.

“The tongue has the power of life and death.” (Proverbs 18:21a)

“The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:4)

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.” (James 3:9-10)

What we say, the words that we speak can cause irreparable damage, or they can bring life to the hearer. Therefore, let’s guard what we say, because it can affect a person’s life.
