When God Shuts A Door

Thought For Today: “When God Shuts A Door”

There is a popular saying stated by just about every Christian out there. We say, “When God shuts a door, he opens a window.”

First, that is not a biblical statement, instead it is one of those feel-good statements to help us through the difficult times when we don’t see God move the way we thought.

While I know the story found in Acts 20 of when God shut several doors for Paul to go to Macedonia, and then opened a way later on. Can I just say that God doesn’t always open a window.

In his first letter to the Corinthian Church, Paul said, “Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you.” (1 Corinthians 7:17)

If God closes a door, it doesn’t automatically mean He is going to open a window. Sometimes God leaves both door and window closed, because He needs us to stay right where we are so that a lesson might be learned.

Therefore, let’s walk worthy of the calling by which we have been called instead of always trying to find a way out.
