Thought For Today: “The Fault Is Ours”
There is one thing we never need to learn how to do, and that is making excuses. We have the innate ability to offer a reason for every wrong and failure. And this is never as true as when it comes to not living up to the promises of God.
The truth is that we really have no one to blame but ourselves.
We can’t blame the devil because Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
We can’t blame those who are against us because the Bible says, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
And we cannot blame God because Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
And so, to our paralysis of excuses we need to take Peter’s words and let them be ours.
“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” (Acts 3:6b)
