Thought for Today: “Resurrection Hope”
What gives us hope when things seem hopeless?
When the dreaded D’s of depression, discouragement, despair, disaster, discontentment, dissatisfaction, and death attack, there is only one thing that helps. It’s the knowledge that the tomb is empty, that Jesus is no longer dead but has risen.
It is from our belief in this reality that we can draw strength when our strength seems all but gone.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)
It is in the hope of the resurrection that our lagging spirits find new and renewed life, and that’s because since Jesus has been raised from the dead, so shall we. Because Jesus has been raised from the dead, death and the grave no longer have a hold on us.
This is the hope of Easter. This is the hope of the resurrection.
