Thought For Today: “Righteous Prayers”
Not everything we direct towards God is truly prayer. Dallas Willard, Christian philosopher and teacher, said that just talking to God isn’t prayer, even though prayer is talking to God no matter how many religious words we use.
The Bible says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.” (James 5:16)
These prayers consist of more than what we want; they go directly to God’s will and His kingdom purposes. This can be seen even in the prayer Jesus taught.
“When you prayer, let this be your guide, say, ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'” (Matthew 6:9-10)
Prayers that prevail with God are prayers that ask God to move His kingdom forward here upon the earth, which includes asking God to move within our hearts.
