Today’s 333 Devotional: “Perseverance: Don’t Give Up”
Don’t Give Up – You’ll Reap a Reward in the End
King David said to Solomon, “Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 22:14a)
It would seem there was a lot of trouble and opposition to David in getting everything ready for Solomon to build the Lord’s temple. But David didn’t allow the trouble to depress him, nor the Lord forbidding him to build the temple to make him give up and quit the process of getting the temple ready for His Son, Solomon, to build.
Don’t allow your troubles to turn you sour and quit, and don’t quit because God may have said, “Not now.”
Consider the words David gave to his son Solomon about this work and when discouragement would come.
“Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God–my God–will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 28:20)
Accept God’s part and plan for your life and you’ll reap the benefits. What benefits? Look at what David said.
“All this the Lord made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” (1 Chronicles 28:19)
Besides great riches, God wrote His plan upon David’s heart. God’s reward to David was personal revelation directly from heaven.
As you move forward in the Lord, God will begin to write upon your heart His plans about His holy temple that’s within you. Will there be trouble? Yes. But don’t quit. Instead, be strong and courageous knowing God will never leave nor forsake you. In the end you’ll reap a great reward, not only in the present, but also in heaven for all eternity.
“For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep.” (Acts 13:36a)
