God’s Not Done With You

Today’s 333 Devotional: “God’s Not Done With You”

It seems like we become a lot more tired a lot quicker the older we get. As grey starts popping up on our heads, we wonder, “Is God finished with me? Is it time for someone else, someone younger to come and pick up the mantle of ministry?”

The answer is “No.”

Our problem isn’t with our age, rather it’s with a society that idolized youth, and so we feel marginalized. But we are never too old, and while there is assisted by God living, there is no retirement. Remember, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and when we are weak, that’s when God is at full strength (Philippians 4:13; 2 Corinthians 12:10).

Look at Caleb. His name means “whole-hearted,” and “faithful.” He was 85 years old when he went to Joshua and asked for one of the hardest places to conquer.

He said, “Give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.” (Joshua 14:12)

It seems like King David, however, succumbed to these sorts of thoughts. He said, “Do not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.” (Psalm 71:9)

But David also knew God was there to assist him saying, “O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!” (Psalm 71:12)

If you are feeling tired and worn out, then let David’s prayer be yours.

“Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come” (Psalm 71:18).

There is no retirement plan in doing the Lord’s work; only God provided assistance.
