Thought For Today: “Holy Spirit GPS”

I remember heading to Salt Lake in the dark hours of early morning through a blizzard. I punched in the coordinates for the hospital I was taking the person to, and then looking at the Freeway signs I realized it was giving me direction into the mountains. After praying, I stopped at a local Stop and Go style market, and they said it was basically around the corner.

That got me wondering about God’s heavenly GPS system to guide us through this life.

In praying to His Father, Jesus asks Him to make us holy, that is, to sanctify us through the truth of His word, the Bible. “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

But how will we know? Who will help us navigate the Bible in order to find the truth for our world and our lives? The Spirit of truth, that is, the Holy Spirit, that’s who. Jesus said, “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13)

And so, we can say and trust that it is the Holy Spirit who is our heavenly GPS system.
