Thought For Today: “Prejudiced Against God”
Jesus said, “I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed.” (Matthew 13:13-15a)
The people’s hearts were hardened, but not as much against what Jesus was saying as it was their prejudice against the gospel, against the Bible, against God and the idea that He rules and reigns over their lives.
Notice they deliberately shut their ears and eyes. They’ve dismissed the gospel of Jesus Christ without ever hearing it or reading the Bible.
Today people dismiss the case for Christ, dismiss the gospel message without ever giving it a fair hearing. People don’t come to church or to God with an open mind; rather they believe they are being intellectual to deny Christianity, but, this is nothing more than prejudice.
Consider what the Lord said in Jeremiah 6:16. “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
