Today’s Devotional: “We’re More Than We Think”
Far too often we judge ourselves by what we see in the mirror, or how others see and respond to us. Unfortunately, we see ourselves in a negative light, like being overweight, plain, unlovely, and no promise that things will be any different in the future.
But our value isn’t based on what we see, or for that matter the actions and judgments others make about us. Our value is based solely upon the fact God created us in His image and likeness.
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;’ … So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
We were made in the image and likeness of God; therefore, we’re of great value and worth.
The word “image” means a copy or counterpart, which indicates we’re a direct reflection of God’s glory.
We’re far more than what we think. We’re God’s special creation put here not to glorify or live for ourselves, rather we’re here to have a relationship with God and glorify Him.
God created us in His image and likeness because He loves us. He loves us so much He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us so we can live with Him for all eternity.
“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)
