Today’s 333 Devotional: “Go Deeper”
“The deeper we go, the mightier the flow.”
In Ezekiel’s vision of the Millennial Temple, Ezekiel 47:1-9, he sees flowing from the temple a mighty river that makes its way from Jerusalem through the desert and into the Dead Sea changing the whole complexion of the desert as well as the Dead Sea.
These are healing waters bringing life and health to everything it touches. It will heal the Dead Sea. There will be trees that will grow by its bank, whose leaves never whither and that will continually bear fruit.
Notice that Ezekiel says, “Where the river flows everything will live.” (Ezekiel 47:9)
Jesus uses the same phrase, rivers of living water, referring to the Holy Spirit.
“‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive.” (John 7:37-39a)
This river of water that flows from the Throne of God; that flows from the Father and Son and brings healing to everything it touches, is the same river promised by Jesus that will flow out from and through all who believe.
It’s the Holy Spirit.
What I found interesting about Ezekiel’s account is that there are degrees of depth within this river. You have waters coming up ankle height, then to the knees, to the waist, and finally over your head.
The question becomes, “How much of this river, how much of the Holy Spirit do we want flowing from us?”
How deep are we willing to go? Know this that the deeper we go, the more healing and renewal there is.
How far out into the river have we ventured or are we still on the banks afraid to take that first step, afraid to go deeper.
Please know, the deeper we go, the mightier the Holy Spirit will work in us and through us.
