Thought For Today: “Choose Love Not Fear”
Paul says love never fails, that is, love never falls to the ground and dies. You’ll never find any sign of decay with love. Love also never loses its strength and is immovable and tireless.
In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian Church he said, “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)
In Phillips translation of the Bible, it translates the first part of this verse saying, “Love can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that still stands when all else has fallen.” (1 Corinthians 13:8 Phillips)
If this is the case, then we need to start acting out of love rather than acting in fear. Fear chains us, but when we choose love, it will change us. It’s through the simple act of love that relationships change, becoming both healthy and alive.
Therefore, let’s make the choice to love, just as Jesus made that choice to love us when at our best, we’re unlovable. He chose to love us, even as our sins put him upon the cross to suffer and die for us.
So, let’s choose to love and always remember that fear chains us while love changes us.
