Thought For Today: “The Full Gospel”
Jesus died upon the cross to save us from our sins.
“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness.” (1 Peter 2:24)
In 2 Corinthians 5:21, the Apostle Paul said that Jesus, who knew no sins, was made to be sin for us upon the cross so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
But, to leave it there is only half that gospel, half the good news, because if Jesus had only died but did not rise from the dead, then our salvation would not have been complete. Paul said that if Jesus hadn’t risen from the dead then our faith would be useless (1 Corinthians 15:14).
The resurrection is the second half of the gospel message and needs to be believed in order for our salvation to be secured.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
