Thought For Today: “Trust and Lean”
Trusting in God when it doesn’t make sense to the natural mind doesn’t make sense. But it is in these times that God gives us the greatest victories, which could be an answer to prayer, or the strength to deal with disappointments.
When the Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart, and then life takes a turn for the worst, it’s hard to trust God. Yet it is in these times that we need to lean upon the Lord even more so.
The word lean gives us the same meaning as trusting. It means to rest in, be supported by something or someone. Therefore, to lean upon the Lord and stop trusting in self is to trust in God and not ourselves.
And so, when the dreaded D’s attack; disappointment, discouragement, despair, and depression, it’s not the time to fold our wings; instead, it’s time to trust and lean upon the Lord and spread our wings. It’s then that we will mount up with wings as eagles, run and not faint, walk and not grow weary. (Isaiah 40:31)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
