A Scripture and a Prayer: “Willingness to Pay the Price”
“And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11)
Prayer:
Lord, as we approach this New Year, let’s do so as the Wise Men when they came to worship Jesus. They were willing to pay the price of leaving everything behind to take a journey of faith to follow a star, with their gifts a worship, which were of great value. As we enter then into the New Year, may we be just as willing to make sacrifices and surrender ourselves to follow You, to be Your disciples. That we would follow Paul’s admonition to present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy, and acceptable to You, which is our reasonable act of worship and service to You. Therefore, help us Lord Jesus to be more like You who made the ultimate sacrifice and surrendered Your life to give to all who believe, eternal life. And this I ask in Jesus’s name. AMEN
