Today’s 333 Devotional: “A Power that Exceeds Expectations”
Have you ever had your expectations shattered? Like when you ordered something on T.V. only to find out what you thought was actually different once it arrived in the mail? Have you ordered something from the shopping channel only to return it because it didn’t look as good on you as it did on the model?
But this is not the case with God. With God, you get it all and then some. With God you get your sins forgiven and then heaven after this life is over.
But what about right now?
God doesn’t leave you to figure it out alone. He gives you His Son and promises that you can stand through the tough times through Jesus who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). God also gives you the Holy Spirit who resides within to help you through these times, and then He does great and marvelous things on top of that.
This is the heart of God’s promise. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
The power working within us is not only Jesus Christ, but the Holy Spirit as well. “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19)
And so, within us resides the Holy Spirit, and because of His wonderful and marvelous power and love towards us, He’s able to do exceedingly abundantly above our expectations.
What a great phrase to describe His love and power, “exceedingly abundantly.” The Holy Spirit doesn’t just do exceedingly above, or abundantly above, but exceedingly abundantly above.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we’re able to do more than we imagine, and more than we expect. So, let’s not shortchange God, rather believe, and move forward in the fullness of His power that exceeds expectations.
