Thought For Today: “Godly Counsel”
When King David was old, his eldest son, Adonijah, proclaimed himself king. The only problem is that David had promised Solomon. So, Nathan the prophet came to Bathsheba and said, “Come, please, let me now give you advice, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.” (1 Kings 1:12)
When facing the world and all its entrapments it’s smart to find a counselor who will give godly advice and wisdom.
The Bible says, “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14)
Solomon said, “Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth … Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:5, 7)
Solomon makes sure we understand that we are to get wisdom at whatever the cost.
“Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23)
So, let’s take the time and energy to find good Christian counselors that will point us to God and His word.
