Thought for Today: “A Prepared Heart”
God’s grace is extended to those who prepare their hearts to seek Him, more than their keeping the letter of the law.
This is seen when the children of Israel came to participate in the Passover in Jerusalem, even though they had not become ceremonially clean. Seeing this, Hezekiah prayed, “May the good Lord provide atonement for everyone who prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.” (2 Chronicles 30:18b-19).
And the Lord heard Hezekiah’s prayer and healed the people.
We see the same request made by the Psalmist in how God hears the prayers of those whose hearts are prepared and delivers them.
“Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear, to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may oppress no more.” (Psalm 10:17-18)
