Thought For Today: “Death Rolled Away”
As believers in Jesus Christ death is not something we need to fear any longer, because death has been rolled away.
When the women came to anoint Jesus body on that fateful Sunday morning they asked, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, “the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.” (Mark 16:3-4)
Death is like this large stone that was rolled in front of Jesus’s tomb. But when Jesus rose from the dead, He rolled away the stone of death from our lives. Therefore, death no longer needs to be feared, because at our death upon this earth we will be alive in the presence of God.
The Apostle Paul said, “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)
Therefore, we can confirm Paul’s assessment of death.
“O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)
