Today’s 333 Devotional: “Renew Your Inner Man”
Our life in Christ doesn’t begin on the outside, rather it is an inside out work. It is not about conforming; rather it’s about transforming.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
This is what God told to Samuel when he was sent to find the next king.
“Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature … For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
And so, David was chosen, a ruddy little guy with a heart for God. God’s testimony was that David was a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22).
God is looking for a few good men and women who desire transformation in order to make a difference in the world today. But how do we change, how do we renew the inner man.
It is through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
The Apostle Paul says we are to put off the old man and all of its corruption and put on the new man God has made us to be, and this is done through being renewed in the spirit of our minds (Ephesians 4:22-24).
Earlier Paul prayed that God would strengthen our resolve to be that man or woman of God through the power of the Holy Spirit working within.
“For this reason, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ … that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” (Ephesians 3:14, 16)
Jesus said God is just waiting for us to ask Him for the renewing power of the Holy Spirit, therefore ask Him today (Luke 11:13).
